Honeywell acquires automated intelligent visual gas monitoring company
Honeywell recently announced the acquisition of Rebellion Photonics. The company is headquartered in Houston and provides a variety of innovative and intelligent visual gas monitoring solutions to significantly improve the safety and operation of the oil and gas, petrochemical and power industries. Performance, emission reductions and compliance.Rebellion provides the industry's only real-time monitoring platform that can visually identify and quantify gas leaks. It can quickly detect and analyze leaks to ensure worker safety. The intelligent monitoring system integrates an advanced artificial intelligence-driven software platform that automatically alerts factory operators and provides detailed analysis when a gas leak, fire, or safety issue is detected.
By reducing the need for field installation, maintenance, and calibration of sensors, Rebellion's self-calibration technology provides customers with a cost-effective monitoring solution. The company's customers include some of the world's largest oil and gas, petrochemical and power companies whose solutions are used in refineries, oil rigs, offshore platforms, pipelines and power plants.
Rebellion will be part of Honeywell's Safety and Productivity Solutions Group, which provides a variety of gas detection technologies, safety devices, mobile solutions and software to help workers stay safe and increase efficiency. Rebellion's technology will also be applied through Honeywell Performance Materials and Technologies Group's businesses to help customers in the process manufacturing industry improve safety and compliance.
"To quickly respond to gas leaks and secure facilities, oil, gas, petrochemical and power companies are deploying Rebellion Photonics' next-generation visual surveillance technology, which is based on machine learning," said President of Honeywell Safety and Productivity Solutions Group. And CEO John Waldron said. "This acquisition complements Honeywell's portfolio of process technology, automation and gas detection solutions and accelerates our transition to software industry companies. Rebellion employees share our goals: help Workers maintain health and safety at work while reducing the environmental impact of gas emissions. "
"Honeywell is an amazing company and a recognized leader in our industry. We are excited to be part of their world-class family," said Robert Kester, CEO of Rebellion Photonics. "Automated visual monitoring is the future of gas leak detection. Combining our products with Honeywell's platform will make it the new industry standard for global safety and environmental monitoring."
Rebellion was founded in 2009 and is headquartered in Houston, USA. Its patented gas cloud imaging system (GCI) combines a camera with a proprietary hyperspectral imaging technology to pinpoint the source of the leak and measure the volume and concentration of the leaked gas. The company also provides real-time fire detection, intrusion and surveillance monitoring solutions to ensure the safety of factories and facilities.
Honeywell has more than 60 years of experience in providing fixed and portable gas detection solutions to industrial, commercial, and government agencies, and people working in these areas may be exposed to toxic or flammable gases. These gas detection solutions can be deployed in confined spaces or harsh environments that workers need access to, such as cold storage workshops and offshore oil production facilities.
Terms of the transaction were not disclosed and the acquisition will not change the company's financial guidance for 2019.
